**** Integration Of Train And Buses: Any Benefits?
by Heng-Cheong Leong, MyAppleMenu
Will merging the two transport companies — SMRT and ComfortDelgro — brings benefits that can be realized because of integration?
This is a very simple question to answer, I believe. Just compare the situation in Woodlands, Sengkang, and Jurong East.
In Woodlands, both the train and bus operators are SMRT. In Sengkang, both the train and bus operators are SBSTransit (part of ComfortDelgro). In Jurong East, the train is operated by SMRT, and the buses are operated by SBSTransit.
Notice any difference in the level of service in the three areas? I don't think so.
Personally, I support having the bus system freely compete with the train system. And I support cross-subsidizing: bascially, all route operators must pay a tax to support non-profitable but essential routes.

**** Lee Kuan Yew On Homosexuality <http://mrwangsaysso.blogspot.com/2007/04/lee-kuan-yew-on-homosexuality.html>
by Mr Wang Says So
Homosexuality is indeed a controversial issue in the United States. However, the US controversy is about /whether gays can get married/ and /whether gays can adopt children/. It's not about whether gays can fall in love, or have consensual sex, without being arrested and thrown into jails like thieves or robbers.
So you see, Singapore is still grappling with gay rights issues at a rather basic and primitive level. Much more primitive than the United States, anyway.
