*** Me And My Mini
Heng-Cheong Leong

Dear Diary <http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/10/nyregion/10diary.html>: While jogging in Central Park on a recent morning, I found myself following closely behind a man, also out for a run, pushing one of those fancy, three-wheeled sports strollers and listening to his iPod. We were going at the same speed and, as I kept pace behind him, I began to realize that the runners passing us in the opposite direction were doing a double-take as they looked into the stroller and then at the man pushing it. What curiosity was there to see? ...

[Ramblings]

*** Lines At Immigration
Heng-Cheong Leong

Lin Zian Wen <http://straitstimes.asia1.com.sg/forum/story/0,5562,345978,00.html?> said that we should be thankful for "all the hassle at our checkpoint... due to the stringent inspections carried out by officers of the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority."

This mean we should really be very scared of the lack of the lines at Changi Airport, eh? As Changi Airport proudly boosted <http://www.changiairport.com.sg/changi/level3.jsp?ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181062&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302024596&bmUID=1129005572192>: From the time [travellers] step off the aircraft, travellers take less than 34 minutes to clear immigration, claim their baggage and go through customs procedures.

Hello? It's possible to be both effective and efficient. The cynical side of me inside believes that the checkpoint at the Causeway is so slow because there is no money to be earned at Causeway (as compared to all the duty-free shops at Changi), and that we are all discouraged from going to Senai Airport to fly. :-)

*** Straits Times, And Blogs
Heng-Cheong Leong

Whenever you read anything about blogs in the Straits Times -- like this article <http://straitstimes.asia1.com.sg/free/story/0,6418,345982,00.html?>, for example, you'd have to keep this in mind: blogs can be a competitor to the newspaper. Remember: Straits Times may be scared of competition, which may caused it to report only certain news and views about blogs.

Why do you think Straits Times sorta reversed itself and started publishing some news articles <http://straitstimes.asia1.com.sg/free> and all the forum page articles <http://straitstimes.asia1.com.sg/forum> for free? For the social good? Ha!
